  • AGM 2018, ‘Unless we touch his wounds…’

There were 70 participants plus the liaison Bishop, Bishop Jwara CMM and Sr Clara Mangwengwe CPS from the Conference of Major Superiors, Zimbabwe. 14 Congregational Leaders sent apologies.

Some wisdom from the AGM: our wounds are sources of growth; a wound is a place where the light enters you; the first step to healing is recognising that there is a wound; when you can tell the story and it doesn’t bring up any pain you know it is healed.

The ministry of Congregational Leadership includes trying to bring healing to congregational, community and individual woundedness. Participants were encouraged to use the insights and type of process used during the AGM in their own Congregations. Some have already done so.

200 years of the Catholic Church in South Africa and the contribution of Religious during that time was  celebrated throughout the AGM. Those who participated will recognise the photo above!

  • Next Meeting of Exec: 08 May LCCL Office, Johannesburg: On the Agenda:

Theme of next AGM:  there were many suggestions which will be considered by the Executive.

Organisation of AGM:  There were some suggestions mostly about having only one venue.

Responses to Questionnaires: Fifteen Congregations asked for workshops on Professional Conduct. The executive will take this up. Very few Congregations are involved in activities to do with Ecumenism and Inter-Religious Dialogue. A number of Congregations are actively engaged in counter-trafficking activities ranging from creating awareness to providing a place of safety.
