Issue Are You Submitting Annual Reports to SARS?
It seems a number of Catholic Organisations registered with SARS are not submitting the required annual reports to SARS and thus are not legally compliant. This is an offence. If your Congregation has overlooked making annual returns to SARS you will get into trouble; and also negatively affect the reputation of the Church. If you are not sure about these matters, please contact me.
Fr Hans Zollner SJ, From the Gregorian University who holds important posts at the Vatican with regard to addressing abuse will be in South Africa on specified dates from 30 July- 08 August 2019. Theme: Impact of abuse and pastoral care of survivors, danger of re-victimization. After Fr Hans’s visit SACBC and LCCL secretariats will organise workshops on safeguarding of children and Vulnerable Adults and on implementing our existing policies and protocols. All Catholic Organisations and persons who are officially ‘Church’ persons must be very aware and pro-active on these matters.
Many thanks to those who have already paid their Congregation’s 2019 membership subscription. If your Congregation did not receive a notification for 2019, please let me know.
A number of Congregations have had, or soon will have, a change of Congregational Leader. LCCL wishes both the outgoing Leaders and the incoming Leaders every blessing! Early next year I will send out a list of the changes I have heard about.
Two successful workshops for Religious in Temporary Vows were held in Mariannhill and Johannesburg respectively. Many thanks to the organisers, Sr Franziska Hlongwane in Kwa-Zulu Natal, Sr Barbara Standing and Sr Cecilia Anawanti in Johannesburg.
Would the Religious who are coordinators/secretaries of these meetings or forums, please contact Sr Maureen. Also the Minutes from Metropolitan Meetings should please be sent to LCCL.
Many Congregations have lost members in the past few months, some in tragic or difficult circumstances. Some Congregations have lost several members. Our deepest sympathy.
If you do not wish to remove your veil for such photos, just tell the official that you wear it for religious reasons.

Wishing you, your communities, your families and the people you serve many blessings during the Christmas season
and a very grace-filled New Year!
